Housing Homeless V
THE HARD TRUTH
Homeless veterans are everywhere.
"Newport, we can do better than this."
We get homeless vets off the street and into a warm bed.
These heroes have shed blood, sweat, and tears for our freedom. That’s a debt we can never repay. But to do nothing is unnacceptable. We can’t ignore them any longer. That’s why Joshua’s Place exists. Because a place to rest is so very important. And it’s the least we can do for our nation’s defenders.
I get it. I was homeless once, too.
I’m Adriene Streater. Before serving as a U.S. Army Soldier, I silently suffered through a violent, abusive relationship. Freedom meant leaving everything behind. So the streets embraced my children and I because we had nowhere else to go. And to think someone who served is living that way right now is unthinkable.
